Ride the Dolphin

I'm just throwing this out there . . . best record sleeve ever. Nick from Mystery of Two and I recently bought a ton of Lp's for very cheap. The Parliament "Motor Booty Affair" is obviously one of the gems. This is like every holiday wrapped into one image. This is what every Saturday night should be like. Sometimes choices like this need to happen. Take this scenario for instance. You're at home with some down time and you think to yourself, should I do the laundry maybe grab some food for the week? Fuck it, I'll just jump on the dolphins and rock some tunes. As you can see for yourself, the right choice has been reached on this dilemma. As we get ready for 2009 I implore you to " Ride the Dolphin"

Cleveland Public Power

So when our fine city went bankrupt in the 70's it was in a large part because the mayor at the time, one Dennis Kucinich, wouldn't sell Muni Light. His refusal to sell the power company pissed a lot of people off including the banks who called in all their loans, and the mafia who put a hit out on him. No shit . . . Don't you love politics. Well we may have gone bankrupt at the time, and DK almost got killed, but Cleveland now enjoys cheap power from a publicly owned utility and we also got this song out of it.

Things are busy as always at the ESR studio, The new Blake Miller Record Burn Tape is getting close to press, and Mystery of Two is moving along on our record. We're playing with Hot Cha Cha and The Dimeras this Friday @ Now That's Class. The show is a benefit for Pink Eye Magazine, it's also a release party for issue # 2

CMJ Showcase in Brooklyn

The whole ESR team is heading to Brooklyn for CMJ this year. Our showcase is Tuesday Oct. 21st @ Spike Hill in Williamsburg. Admission is free and there's $1 off Brooklyn lagers. Spanish Prisoners is going on at 8 followed by Mystery of Two at 9, Hot Cha Cha at 10, The Dreadful Yawns at 11, and Home and Garden at Midnight. More on the adventures after the fact, but if you're in the area hope to see you there.

In other things happening Blake Miller just moved to Portland, Or. We're getting close to finishing up his second album "Burn Tape" which is going to be released as a cassette with a digital download code . . . along with just digital.

Mystery is heading into the studio tomorrow to start our new record . . . we've been held up by the remnants of hurricane Ike that knocked power out for a week, illness, and for the final act the studio computer crashed. But the power is back on, everyone is in good health, and the computer is back up and going. . . so away we go.

Mystery of Two attacked by Dolphins , starts new record.

Mystery of Two made it back from tour after fending off vicious Dolphins and logging in 2100 miles. We had a great time and can't wait to get out on the road again, but for now we're gearing up to record our next record. Tracking is happening at the Exit Stencil Studio here in Cleveland, from there it looks like we'll be heading to Brooklyn to mix with Tony Maimone at Studio G. I can't wait on several different levels. First off it will be satisfying to be recording again esp after all the work that has been put into the studio space. On another tip having someone we're excited to work with in the mixing stage should help get some perspective on the project and move it along in a timely manner aka preventing me from going in circles on it . . If your around Cleveland we have a few shows on the horizon, check in on that here if you like.
